Jesus is not one of many ways to approach God, nor is He the best of several ways; He is the only way.    A.W. Tozer

When old companions, old lusts, and sins crowd in upon you, and when you feel that you are ready to sink, what can save you, sinking sinner? This alone – I have a high priest in heaven, and he can support in the hour of affliction. This alone can give you peace – I have a high priest in heaven. When you are dying – when friends can do you no good – when sins rise up like spectres around your bed – what can give you peace? This – “I have a high priest in heaven” .   Robert Murray McCheyne

Jesus was God spelling himself out in language humanity could understand.   S.D. Gordon

If we cannot claim to live sinless lives, then the only thing that can keep us from despairing before a holy God is that we have an Advocate in heaven and He pleads our case not on the basis of our perfection but of His propitiation. John Piper

In many respects I find an unresurrected Jesus easier to accept. Easter makes him dangerous. Because of Easter I have to listen to his extravagant claims and can no longer pick and choose from his sayings. Moreover, Easter means he must be loose out there somewhere.    Philip Yancey

Christ is not valued at all unless he be valued above all.    Augustine

But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.    C.S. Lewis

God is not a sadist who hopes his creatures are miserable. Jesus was so fond of dinner parties that his detractors called him “a glutton and a drunkard” (Luke 7:34). Jesus turned water into wine to keep a party going.  Leland Ryken
