Assurance is the fruit that grows out of the root of faith.   Stephen Charnock

It is our privilege to know that we are saved.   D.L. Moody

It is true that we need to make a one time decision to follow Jesus. But a true one time decision is followed by the every day decision to follow Jesus.  Mike McKinley

The opposite of sight and feeling is faith. Now it is the soulish person who gains assurance by grasping the things which can be seen and felt; but the person who follows the spirit lives by faith, not by sight.   Watchman Nee

There’s no sight like seeing the light from Calvary kiss a human face as it fills the heart with the assurance of Divine forgiveness.   Gipsy Smith

Persistence in sin destroys the assurance of salvation.   John Piper

We are no more secure in Christ with a strong faith than with a small faith, so long as that small faith is true faith.   Jared C. Wilson

The assurance of His total forgiveness of our sins through the blood of Christ means we don’t have to play defensive games anymore. We don’t have to rationalize and excuse our sins. We can call sin exactly what it is, regardless of how ugly and shameful it may be, because we know that Jesus bore that sin in His body on the cross.  Jerry Bridges

If Christ has once possessed the affections, there is no dispossessing of him again. A fire in the heart overcomes all fires without.   Richard Sibbes

If we be married to Christ, and He be jealous of us, depend upon it this jealous husband will let none touch His spouse.   Charles Spurgeon

In the darkest of nights cling to the assurance that God loves you, that He always has advice for you, a path that you can tread and a solution to your problem–and you will experience that which you believe. God never disappoints anyone who places his trust in Him.   Basilea Schlink

For we are not saved by believing in our own salvation, nor by believing anything whatsoever about ourselves. We are saved by what we believe about the Son of God and His righteousness. The gospel believed saves; not the believing in our own faith.  Horatius Bonar

In these two things the greatness of man consists, to have God so dwelling in us as to impart his character to us, and to have him so dwelling in us that we recognize his presence, and know that we are his, and he is ours. The one is salvation: the other the assurance of it.   Frederick W. Robertson

How happy it is to believe, with a steadfast assurance, that our petitions are heard even while we are making them; and how delightful to meet with a proof of it in the effectual and actual grant of them.  William Cowper

To be assured of our salvation is no arrogant stoutness. It is faith. It is devotion. It is not presumption. It is God’s promise.   Augustine

I suppose many do not understand themselves, when they say they want assurance; for what better assurance would you have than the word of God? If you have his word, and take his word, you need no better assurance.  Ralph Erskine

However, we do not have to go through life without the assurance of salvation. In 1 John 5:13 the apostle says, “These things have I written unto you…that ye may know that ye have eternal life.”  Charles Spurgeon

It is true that we must believe in Christ in order to become saved (Acts 16:31), but how can we be sure we have savingly believed in Him? Certainly we cannot rely upon our feelings since feelings can be misleading. Some might suggest we can be sure by acknowledging the facts of the gospel or saying “the sinner’s prayer.” However, the Bible teaches that it is not possible to be saved without being regenerated. Christ said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Therefore, we cannot know we have savingly believed in Christ until we know we are born again.  Charles Spurgeon
